Ontario Hunting in Remote Wilderness

Bear Hunting Manitou Lake

Our remote location and exclusive Black Bear Management Areas offer each hunter every opportunity for a successful hunt. Our BMA is accessible by either boat or vehicle.

The Boreal forest encompassing our vast Ontario hunting area consists of just the right balance of old and new growth forest. This helps provide a healthy bear population with excellent shelter, safe den sites, escape cover, and incredible berry crops which are essential for producing trophy bears.

Bear Hunt Techniques

We use baited stands. We try to provide each hunter with 2 or 3 active baited stands for their hunt.
We start baiting a few weeks before the season and pick up the amount of baiting as the start of the season approaches.

We provide all the bait you will need. Depending on the package you choose, either the guide will bring the bait to the spots or we will provide you with bait to bait it as you go in. We will also make sure the unused sites are being baited. What do we use for bait? Well you will just have to come and check it out.

Prior to the hunt, we will go over each spot, the site history of it, and advice to ensure a successful hunt.
We use ladder stands which are placed roughly 15 to 30 yards from the bait. Baits are designed to offer excellent shot placement and to provide you with easy identification of the sex of the bear. Most stands are single person, but we do have a couple two person stands if desired, which can be fun to include a cameraman. Feel free to bring your own stand if you choose.

Generally a hunter will sit on one site for 3 days before being moved. Wind direction may also necessitate a move.
Depending on your hunt package, we provide assistance tracking, recovering and skinning your trophy.

Grouse Hunting at Manitou Weather Station

A great trip in the fall is a cast and blast.  Here in Northwestern Ontario, we have a very healthy population of grouse. 90% of the Grouse you will see are Ruffed Grouse. On occasion you will see Spruce Grouse.  The many old logging roads nearby are great for walking or driving.  You can either choose to walk, or if you would like, you can bring your own quad and ride out further down the roads into the wilderness.

Grouse are delicious to eat. Go fish for a few hours, go hunt for a few hours, the perfect day.

Enjoy the best of both outdoor worlds. Come join us for some casting and blasting, fishing and hunting adventure. Bird season opens  September 15 and there can be some great grouse hunting up until close-up. The trails and old logging roads around camp provide the perfect environment for grouse hunting. You can choose to either walk or ride while hunting. You can also bring your own ATV to ride the trails.  Please contact us for more info.

Deer Hunting at Manitou Weather Station

North Western Ontario is well known for its whitetail trophy bucks. The big bodies, 200 to 300 plus pounds,  and heavy racks on the bucks make them an incredible hunt. Your Ontario hunting experience takes place in the fields and bush west of Fort Frances. True hunting skills are needed to bag one of these whitetail beauties from the Northern Ontario woods.  The area we hunt a guide is required, 2 hunters per guide.  Our guides will pick you up every morning and bring you to your spot and pick you up in the evening.  They will also field dress and make sure it the deer is processed before you head home.    You will be hunting out of elevated box blinds, ground blinds or a ladder stand depending on the spot.  Our hunts take place on private land located around the area.

We love to hunt and love to share the experience with you.
