Planning Your Trip

A good vacation starts with easy and simple planning. We’ve got you covered.  We’ll make getting here a breeze, so all you have to worry about is packing your bags!

Manitou Weather Station Fishing Lodge & Cabins

An Experience of a Lifetime

The Manitou Weather Station Fishing Lodge is located in Northwestern Ontario, Canada, about 50 miles north of International Falls, MN on the Lower Manitou Lake.  The lake is famous for its fishing and its rich history of gold mining in the late 1800s.

The fishing here is fantastic, some of the best in NW Ontario.  Our experienced and knowledgeable fishing guides will help you find trophy muskie, pike, bass, lake trout, and even walleye.  We have wonderful modern fishing boats to rent if you are planning a DIY fishing trip, and even an on-site tackle shop.  We’ve got your Canadian fishing adventure covered!

Our camp is set within rustic shorelines in a protected cove, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but modern enough to make you feel right at home.  We have 4 cabins within walking distance from the main lodge, each with modern amenities, power, running water, bathrooms, separate bedrooms, full kitchen and comfortable furniture.

Around the main lodge, where we serve daily meals, we have a hot tub, sauna, communal deck, swimming dock, spacious dining area, fire pit, and more.  We offer an exciting and comfortable excursion perfect for families!

Special lifelong memories are created at the Manitou Weather Station, we hope to see you soon!

Manitou Weather Station Video

Terrific video created by our guest and serious angler Jay Siemens.  Watch this and you will get a great feel for our fishing camp, our cabins, the fishing, and the beautiful Northwest Ontario scenery!

Satellite photo from today. Rainy lake at the bottom. Can you find the Manitou?
Ice still holding strong. Another week of this weather and hopefully it starts breaking up.

From 1952 to 2016 i spent my summers on both Manitou's, camp work or guiding, no place I'd rather be.

Totally see the Manitou. Right up through the stretch, into lower Manitou, Barkers to the west/left, All the way past WS to Mosher Bay. And the upper Manitou past that. Wish I could be there boating it rather than looking at the map. The nice thing is I don’t need a map anymore to get around up there:)

Thanks for updates Kris … much appreciated 👍👍

Looks like we need a couple more days ❗ come on Wind❗

Thanks for the update! Forecast temps in 60-70s and no overnights in the 30s. It will go fast. 12 days away I think.

If you look close you will see me around the island in a few weeks

Bring on the warm rain

Ice out May 18

We are looking for anyone interested in doing some occasional guiding this summer. We have a few dates we could use an extra guide or two. Dates range from 2 to 5 days. Dates are in June/July/August
You can use your own boat or one of ours.

Email, message or call us if interested.

Also we would consider hiring the right person for the whole summer to help guide/maintenance and other odd jobs around camp.
Email, message or call us if interested.

Well this winter just won’t leave us alone. They say it will melt someday. Hopefully sooner rather then later.
When do you think the ice will go out this year?
Guess the day the ice will be out on Manitou enough that we can boat from the boat launch all the way to camp.
Will draw a winner from the correct guesses.
Winner will get some mws gear.

**Photos taken April 18th. **
-29” of ice in front of camp.
-Trail to camp
-6” of fresh snow on the lake over the weekend.

Take your best guess!!

It was a privilege to host Mike, Jeremey, and Jeff from Lindner's Angling Edge and Lund Boats as they fished for Fall Trout.

Watch their latests video as they fish the Lower Manitou and share some tips and advice on how to catch lake trout.

This is why our father came back to the Manitou for 40+ Years. He loved fishing for Lake Trout as did my Father in Law who was lucky enough to catch a 36 pounder off Pecker point almost 30 years ago this summer

You can’t party fish for trout… carefull what you post…. Limit is one a day two In possession.
